Nature Daze is back for 2008! This free event takes place on Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Nature Daze provides you with tips and tools you need for managing your property. The Brown County Native Woodlands Project has coordinated with several local resource professionals to provide you the best information possible about landscaping, controlling invasive plants, wildlife habitats, and fish management. Bill and Becky Freeman have offered their property again as the site location in southeastern Brown County, and are providing a free lunch. Last year, an unprecedented 100+ people attended this field day to learn more about good land management techniques. Even if you went last year, there is something new for everyone. The topics and speakers have changed and there are now hands-on afternoon sessions. Activities, like fishing, will again be offered for kids. These are the four featured morning programs. (Each will be repeated 4 times so you can attend all.) Enhancing Wildlife Habitats Brian MacGowan, Extension Wildlife Specialist, Purdue University Landscaping with Native Plants JoAnne Himebaugh, Horticulturist, Brown County Native Woodlands Project Herbicides & Mechanical Control of Invasive Plants Dan Shaver, Brown County Hills Project Director, The Nature Conservancy Fish Management, Weed ID & Control Nathan Long, Vice President Lake Management Services, Aquatic Control Inc. To RSVP, volunteer, or for more information, please contact Julie Kempf at The Nature Conservancy, (812) 988-0246 or jkempf@tnc.org. It is recommended you bring a lawn chair or blanket for lunch. |
